What we believe about ourselves, others and the world, is not always based in truth. We are effected by our experiences and form beliefs around the events and circumstances that take place in our lives. We carry these stories in our bodies, not realizing their weight and toxicity, which in turn causes the body to become imbalanced, and opens the door to a number of illnesses. In this class we explore, “Healing the Stories We Tell Ourselves,” those stories that stop us in our tracks, keep us from fulfilling our dreams and deepest desires, block our success, stop us from loving who we are, just as we are, and ultimately create a barrier to our very own happiness. Using music, meditation, the written word, game and ritual, we will enter deep into our hearts and embark upon a journey of discovery and release. One session Just For Women ages 16 and up, and one session will be Co-Ed.

Mother Turtle:

Marsia Shuron Harris (aka Mother Turtle) is a singer, songwriter and musician who has been performing her original music for over 20 years. Her voice is distinctive and her music is said to be “..soulful enough to inspire even the most cynical bastard to dance” (Northeast Performer Magazine). She performs both solo and with the band Mother Turtle. As facilitator for “Healing the Stories We Tell Ourselves,” Marsia is dedicated to helping women uncover and discard the unhealthy stories that they are carrying. She uses her original music, meditation, writing and ritual, to take you on a journey of self-discovery. Women leave her having written new stories to hold and grow into, as well as a greater sense of the Goddesses they truly are. Marsia writes, “I must say that I am in awe of the strength of women and their willingness to dive deep, to change, to heal and grow.
